A proboscis river cruise to Garama River, Beaufort.

If you want to see Proboscis monkey, Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary in Sandakan will always be the first choice as it is 400 acres of privately-owned land which has been set aside as a refuge for endangered proboscis monkeys.

Do you know that you can have another experience of seeing these long-nosed monkeys in Garama River, Beaufort, located about 130km from Kota Kinabalu? It only about 2 hour ride from Kota Kinabalu.

Just go to Wisma Sabah building in Kota Kinabalu (next to Wisma Merdeka Shopping Complex) and look for any travel agents who can give you the cheapest rate.

A day trip might cost you about RM200 per head, including food, transport and river cruise.
Besides having the opportunity to see the Proboscis Monkey, one may also get the chance to see variety of birds.

I have been invited to visit this place few months, and if you really love wildlife, this place is worth your money. Bring your camera and binocular to capture one of the best wildlife experience in Borneo Island.

Upon arrival at the jetty, these monkeys (normal one, not proboscis) will greet you by jumping around and started making noise if u are taking pictures. They will pose for you, free of charge. Hahahaha so cute!

Oh, the Korean group just arrived. Now is our turn to explore the river :D

That's me (3rd from left) enjoying the beautiful scenery of Garama River.

 Finally... that's the proboscis monkeys!!!

Very interesting, love the last pic. Watching proboscis monkey in the wild would be a great experience. I know Klias river in Beaufort also offers the same view and it's nearer to home. Hope to make the trip soon.
