"This is part of our on-going effort to ensure MASwings fares are kept at a very reasonable level to allow more Sabahans and Sarawakians to travel.
"The campaign is also part of MASwings' commitment to promote Visit Malaysia Year 2014, especially domestic tourism. This year-long campaign is dedicated to all Malaysians. New guests from Peninsular Malaysia should take the advantage of these discounted fares to see more of beautiful Sabah and Sarawak," he said in his welcoming speech.
Nawawi's speech was read by MASwings Chief Commercial Officer, Shauqi Ahmad.
Promoting social integration is a key objective of MASwings, the popular community airline that was formed six years ago.
"MASwings will also continue to offer special promotional fares from time to time to coincide with religious celebrations, festivals and special events. It is our way to support for the local community in Sabah and Sarawak. We also hope this will further enhance the visibility of MASwings' excellent services and wide network connectivity within Sabah, Sarawak and BIMP-EAGA destination," added Nawawi.
MASwings expects to carry more than 2 million passengers in 2014, an increase of between 10 to 20 per cent of passengers carried in 2013. This higher target of passengers will be made possible with the delivery of three new ATR72-600 in February, May and September of 2014.
The new aircraft will be utilized for increased frequencies between main hubs at Kota Kinabalu and Kuching with secondary sites in Sabah and Sarawak.
The additional capacity will provide more options for passengers in line with MASwings' 1MSOS campaign tag-line "Anywhere; any day". The 1MSOS was launched by Bangkuai and witnessed by key players from travel trade.
